Howmet Playhouse Friends and Partners
Arts Council of White Lake
The Arts Council of White Lake serves to encourage, initiate, and facilitate an enriched artistic, cultural and creative environment throughout the White Lake community. Branches include the Nuveen Community Center for the Arts; Music & Performing Arts; the White River Gallery and artists’ cooperative gallery in Whitehall.
The Nuveen Center is the educational branch of the Arts Council of White Lake. They feature adult and youth classes, workshops, special exhibitions, and performances under the instruction of accomplished artists, writers, dancers, musicians, and actors.
Blue Lake Public Radio
Blue Lake Public Radio is our local public radio station, sponsored by Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. They offer NPR News and select programming, and classical music (with some bluegrass thrown in on Saturday nights).
Frauenthal Center for the Performing Arts
The Frauenthal Center for the Performing Arts combines living history with a dedication to live theater and music. The historic Spanish Renaissance-style center consists of two venues—the Frauenthal Theatre and the Beardsley Theater—plus two additional areas for receptions and an art gallery. Always great entertainment.
Hackley Public Library
The Hackley Public Library is dedicated to: (1) promoting knowledge, understanding, and wisdom; (2) combating ignorance, intolerance, and indifference; (3) promoting the free exchange of ideas; and (4) conserving our national and local cultural heritage. The mission of the Hackley Public Library is to inform, inspire, and delight our diverse community by providing information, knowledge, literature, new technologies, and traditional and innovative programs.
Lakeshore Museum Center
The Lakeshore Museum Center is an exploration of the natural and cultural history of the area by way of wxhibits at multiple sites and buildings in Muskegon County. Located in downtown MUskegon are the Hackley & Hume Historic Site, the Fire Barn Museum, the Scolnik House of the Depression Era, and the Archives; and Michigan’s Heritage Park located at Hilt’s Landing in Whitehall.
Muskegon Arts and Humanities Festival
Muskegon County joins the rest of the country in celebrating the Arts and Humanities during the month of October every year. Focused around a theme, area arts and culture organizations present programming and special events to celebrate all Muskegon County has to offer our community in the arts and humanities.
Muskegon Chamber Choir
The Muskegon Chamber Choir first performed in 1964. It now performs a major oratorio every other year, regularly sings with the West Shore Symphony, and performs an annual concert series in various area churches and concert halls. Membership in the Muskegon Chamber Choir is by audition only.
Muskegon Civic Theatre
Established in 1985, the Muskegon Civic Theatre is a consolidation of the former Civic Opera Association, Port City Playhouse and Muskegon Youth Theatre. The combined history of these theatre groups has spanned decades of service in the greater Muskegon area. The predecessors of the MCT include the Little Theatre of Muskegon and the Greater Muskegon Civic Theatre in addition to the above named parent organizations. The MCT is the only community theatre in Muskegon County; it produces 4-5 shows a year, and provides great theater education opportunities throughout the year for students of all ages.
Muskegon Community College
The Creative and Performing Arts Department at Muskegon Community College offers a variety of creative and performing arts, including an art gallery, dance performances, and a calendar of shows from the theater department throughout the year at the Overbrook Theatre.
Muskegon Museum of Art
The Muskegon Museum of Art provides West Michigan access to a world-class collection of visual art—paintings, prints, sculpture, and glass—enhanced by a wide range of temporary exhibitions. Educational programs, including classes, family programs, lectures, and hands-on activities, as well as guided tours, provide a context for interpretation of the collection and make it accessible to diverse audiences.
West Shore Chorus—Sweet Adeline’s
The West Shore Chorus is a group of women of all ages who love to sing barbershop music! No prior musical training is necessary as they are an educational organization. The only prerequisites for membership are that you must be female and you must love music. Current members come from all corners of West Michigan. The West Shore Chorus performs several times a year, including a fall concert at the Howmet Playhouse.
White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitor's Bureau
The White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitor's Bureau works to strengthen the Whitehall and Montague area by promoting tourism and providing resources for local businesses to succeed. The Chamber also sponsors great events throughout the year and maintain an events calendar for the White Lake area.
