White Lake Youth Theatre Education

The Legend of Scarface and Bluewater was created as the result of a two month workshop in performing arts.

  • The set and props that are used onstage were designed and created by the students in the cast working with local artist Missy Morrow and Technical Director Sarah Hebron to hone their artistic skills.
  • All of the live drumming is performed by four students who also play roles in the play, led by our dynamic drumming instructor Barb Pitcher of CommonUnity in Rhythm!
  • Beautiful cast costumes have been designed by Alice Gambel and created by Lynn Whalen, with individual designs created and applied by the students themselves.
  • Part of the expenses of costuming with underwritten by our Adopt a Costume donors, parents and community members who gave generously to our costume fund. Without these donations we could not have portrayed so accurately the American Indian tribe whose story is central to the play, The Legend of Scarface and Bluewater.

It has been a joy and an honor to work with the twenty-five actors that make up the cast and crew. I am grateful for the time and energy that these actors and their families have contributed in order to make this play such a success.

We continue to build our educational arts programming within the Playhouse, and we are thrilled to say that a grant was just awarded to produce a performing arts workshop over the holiday break of 2009-10. Keep your eyes on this website for further announcements regarding that workshop.

Thank you for your support of the Howmet Playhouse and the White Lake Youth Theatre.
