The 2017 Theatre Festival Staff
Beth Beaman BETHANY BEAMAN (Managing Director) could not be happier with all of the community support for the Howmet Playhouse. Beth is thrilled to be the Managing Director for the fourth summer season and is looking forward to the upcoming renovations that will preserve this community jewel for the next 100 years.
Claire Beaman CLAIRE BEAMAN (Scenic & Paint Designer, Shop Supervisor/Production Assistant) has spent most of her childhood in the theatre, both acting and behind the scenes. Recipient of the 2016 Outstanding Technical Theatre Student at MCC, Claire is excited to return to the Playhouse this summer as a Production Assistant, Scene Shop Supervisor, and Scenic Designer for five shows. She will be attending Western Michigan University in the fall where she will pursue a BFA in Theatre Design and Technical Production with a focus in Scenic Design.
Jasmine Broton JASMINE BROTON (Intern) is an upcoming senior at Whitehall High School. She has participated in theater both on stage and off stage for most of her life. She is excited to join the Howmet staff this summer!
SUSAN EYLER (Costumer) is the costumer for Muskegon Community College and works for Freedom Village as Resident Activities Representative. She has worked as a freelance costumer for Steven Iannaconne and HOPE college dance department, and as a choreographer for a number of local high schools. Susan’s background in the arts includes studying at The Royal Dance Company, UK. After graduating with a double major—LPN and international business/English language and literature—she moved to Germany to study economics, government and politics. All this time she still continued to study dance with Yve Poprawski (Martha Graham Technique) and toured with Elka Olschwski Jazz taps group. She has choreographed several musicals for the Army and local high schools. While working with Howmet Playhouse this summer, she is also preparing for 2017-18 shows for MCC. Susan resides in Holland.
Brian Goodman BRIAN GOODMAN (Scenic & Paint Designer) recently retired after over twenty years at Muskegon Community College working in the Overbrook Theater. Retirement did not seem to agree with him and he is now employed as the Designer in Calvin College's theater program (so much for fishing every day!). Brian lives north of Muskegon with his wife, sons, and granddaughter on a small farm. Originally from Chicago, he can finally call Muskegon "home."
TOM HARRYMAN (Sound Design) is a theatre veteran who has spent many hours upon the Howmet Playhouse stage as a performer as well as a former Managing Director. A member of Actor’s Equity, Tom is also a professor at Muskegon Community College. He is pleased to join the summer theatre festival this year as a sound designer.
JULIE LEWIS (Hair and Make Up)
Erin Mickelson ERIN MICKELSON (Production Manager/Box Office Manager) is so overjoyed that she gets to pull double duty this summer as the season’s Production Manager and also as an actor! She got her start at Muskegon Community College where some of her favorite roles included Hope in Urinetown; Marcy in Dog Sees God; Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Kate Monster in Avenue Q. Erin just graduated with her Bachelor’s in Theatre from Grand Valley State University where she played, among other things, Amanda in Restoration Comedy and Olive in The Women of Lockerbie. She has acted in multiple theaters across West Michigan and even across the state in Port Sanilac’s Barn Theater where she played Michelle in Cheaters.
FLO PREDKO (Graphic Design) has 35 years of experience in the graphic design and printing industry, handling everything from idea through finished product, or just consulting on a small portion of a project. While her design work for the Playhouse rests primarily in the creation of the annual summer brochure, program, and posters, her repertoire includes logo design, brochures, catalogs, banners, sales and marketing pieces, books, newsletters, annual reports, and more. She excels at fitting a project to the customers’ expectations, and finding creative solutions while maximizing options and keeping timelines and budgets in check. Flo has designed marketing materials and programs for Muskegon Civic Theatre for over 25 years, and is excited to now be a part of the Howmet Playhouse team!
Tyler Quinn TYLER QUINN (Sound Design) is an aspiring sound engineer and designer, as well as a third-year sound design major at Michigan Technological University. He has designed, recorded, and engineered sound for his own animated short films and musical projects since beginning high school and is thrilled to spend his summer gaining knowledge in theatrical sound craft.

WILLIAM S. RAFAILL (Webmaster) is the owner of Rafaill & Associates, LLC, a company that specializes in website development, graphic design, and technology training. He has been serving as the webmaster for the Howmet Playhouse since the spring of 2007 and is pleased to do all that he can to promote the Grand Old Lady, the Howmet Playhouse. He and his wife, Barbara, have a cottage in Stony Lake and have been enjoying the western shore of Michigan and all that it offers, including the Playhouse, since the mid 1980s.

David Riegler DAVID RIEGLER (Technical Director, Lighting Design) returns to the Howmet stage again this summer as both an actor and the Playhouse's Technical Director after playing Dr. Bill Ray and designing sound for On Golden Pond last summer, as well as designing lights for Rounding Third. He's previously been seen in Howmet Summer Theatre Festival productions of Unnecessary Farce (Mayor Meekly), Anyone For Murder? (George), and designing lights, sound, and sets for various productions at Howmet Playhouse over his 30 years of working around stages. He served as the Interim Technical Director for Calvin College Theatre Company this past year, and works frequently as an actor, technician, designer, and director for a number of West Michigan community, civic, and professional theatre companies, including Muskegon Civic Theatre and Central Park Players, among others.
Aidan Smith AIDAN SMITH (Production Assistant and Lighting Design) has one of the longest work histories at the Playhouse, despite being only 20. He started as a volunteer in high school and advanced to Production Assistant and Lighting Designer. Aidan will be attending Wayne State University in the fall to continue his education in theatre arts.
Karen Snider Smith KAREN SNIDER SMITH (Property Master, Set Dresser) has been a long-time supporter of the Howmet Playhouse as an audience member, volunteer, and musical performer. She is happy to be working behind the scenes this year for the first time as the Property Master and Set Dresser. During the school year, she works for Montague Public Schools.
Darius Williams DARIUS WILLIAMS (Intern) is a recently graduated Whitehall student who plans on pursuing a degree in political science at The Kings College in NYC. He has also participated in many high school plays and plans to continue that passion throughout college. He is very excited to join the Playhouse crew this summer!
